Tales of the Earth: Temnodontosaurus colored 50p Silver 2021 Proof is a unique valentine to the discovery by paleontologist Mary Anning of some of the oldest and largest ichthyosaurs yet known to science.
The specimen is minted from Ag silver.925, weighing 8 grams, 27.30 mm in diameter, with a standard proof. The mintage of the cylinder is 7,410 pieces. In addition, this remarkable piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The product was placed in its original packaging and additionally in an acrylic display block. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country.
Obverse shows the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination and year, designed by Jody Clark.
Reverse the coin depicts a colored ichthyosaur "Temnodontosaurus" Robert Nicholls is responsible for the reverse design.
