Set of 2 coins African Wildlife: Somalian Elephant "Black & White" coloured2 x 1 oz Silver 2025
The silver Somali Elephant set is the next instalment of a series created in 1999 bearing the name Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first copies of the 1999 series were minted as coins guaranteed by the Zambian government. The copies minted after 2003 have a different guarantor, which is the Somali government. Additionally, the Somali Elephant silver and gold coin series is part of the African Wildlife collector programme.
The 2025 silver exemplar was produced by German precious metals producer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt. Each coin was struck with a weight of one troy ounce and a bullion grade of Ag.9999 and a diameter of 38.60 mm.
Furthermore, African Wildlife: Somali Elephant coins that were produced after 2004 act as full legal tender and are guaranteed by the Somali government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal.
The obverse depicts the Somali coat of arms, two leopards supporting a shield with a star, along with information on the year of mintage and the denomination of the coin.
Rewers shows a coloured elephant against a background of the African steppe. The reverse side features the inscription 'AFRICAN WILDLIFE', 'ELEPHANT' and information on the weight and purity of the bullion.
