Previous coins in the series were Year of the Mouse 2020, Year of the Buffalo 2021 and Year of the Tiger 2022, Year of the Rabbit 2023. The lunar series refers to 12 animals that are representatives of the Chinese lunar calendar. The year 2024 belongs to the dragon and in Chinese mythology it is a majestic beast that inhabits rivers, lakes, oceans and roams the skies. The Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 i 2024.
The coin was struck from Ag silver.9999, weighing 1000.1 grams and having a diameter of 100.9 mm. The Perth Mint, a renowned precious metals producer, is responsible for issuing the coins. The currency is guaranteed by the Australian government as to the legality and origin of the metal, as well as being a full-fledged means of payment in the issuer's territory. The copy is characterized by a security feature in the form of a micro-engraved letter located on the reverse side.
Obverse the Year of the Dragon coins are decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA". In addition, the obverse side features information about the face value, weight and minting sample of the currency.
