The limited edition Matariki colored 1 ounce Silver 2022 Proof coin is a piece that refers to the New Zealand holiday, where the Matariki star cluster rises. The symbolism of the holiday is to remember those who have passed away.
The silver coin was struck from pure Ag bullion.999, with a weight of 1 troy ounce and a diameter of 40 mm, in standard proof. It is the responsibility of the B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt GmbH, with the minting done on behalf of the New Zealand Post.
The mintage of the silver coin is only 800 pieces, where the whole coin comes in an elegant case with an accompanying certificate of authenticity.
Obverse depicts Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank- Broadley. In addition, the obverse features information about the issuer's country, date of issue, weight and purity of the bullion.
Reverse the coin depicts Tāwhirimātea, colored elements and the inscription "TEKAU TARA", "MATARIKI". On the reverse side there is also information about the face value of the coin. The designer of the reverse was Tolaga Bay.
