History of the silver American Eagle
The silver coin American Eagle was approved by the US Congress in 1985, and the following year the coin was already in official issue. The coin's first reverse designs were made by coin designer John Mercanti. Since 2021, Emily Damstra has in turn been responsible for the new design. The design is the responsibility of the aforementioned John Mercanti, who took the motif from the Walking Liberty design by Adolph Weinman.On the reverse of the coin is an image of a landing Bald Eagle carrying an oak branch (this motif alludes to an eagle carrying a branch to its nest). The new design developed by Emily Damstra for the 35th anniversary of the first coin (2021) is responsible for this image of the silver coin's eagle. This year of issue was, by the way, special not only for investors, but also for collectors. This is because it saw the release of both variants of the American Eagle - with the old and the new design. The reverse of the coin is decorated with the inscriptions: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", "1 OZ.
