Niue: The Milky Way - Halley's Comet colored $1 Silver 2023 Proof is another coin in the "The Milky Way" series. The coin is dedicated to the first identified short-period comet. It is named after astronomer Edmond Halley, who in the early 18th century studied records of comet appearances from 1456-1682 and in 1705, and thus predicted the reappearance of this comet in 1758.
The specimen was struck in pure Ag bullion.999, weighing 31.1 grams, with a diameter of 37 mm, in standard proof. The product has an edition of only 2,500 pieces.
This unique piece was designed by Asamat Baltaev, DiS. and produced by the Czech Mint, as well as being official legal tender in Niue. The coin comes with a guarantee as to the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal. The product comes in the original box with a certificate of authenticity.
Obverse of the coin is decorated with the Niue coat of arms and a flying saucer, the inscription "NIUE ISLAND" and the denomination and year of the coin.
Reverse depicts a colored comet - Halley's Comet. The reverse side bears the inscription "HALLEY'S COMET".
