Perth Mint: Lunar III - Year of the Dragon "Yellow Dragon" coloured 1/2 oz Silver 2024 is another copy from Lunar III series. The previous coins in the series were the Year of the Mouse 2020, the Year of the Buffalo 2021 and the Year of the Tiger 2022, the Year of the Rabbit 2023. The lunar series refers to 12 animals that are representatives of the Chinese lunar calendar. The year 2024 belongs to the dragon and in Chinese mythology it is a majestic beast that inhabits rivers, lakes, oceans and wanders in the sky. The Chinese zodiac sign of the Dragon falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024.
The value is minted from pure silver Ag.9999, weighing 1/3 troy ounce and having a diameter of 32.6 mm. The mintage is 200,000 pieces.
The world-famous producer of precious metals - The Perth Mint - is responsible for issuing the coins. In addition, Year of the Dragon 2024 is guaranteed by the Australian government and is a legal tender in the issuer's country.
Obverse of the silver Year of the Dragon coin is decorated with the image of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. The whole is surrounded by the inscription "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA" and information about the nominal value, weight and fineness of the metal.
Reverse shows a colored dragon. On the reverse, there is also the inscription "DRAGON 2024." Designer Ing Ing Jong is responsible for this year's reverse image.
