The limited series of Africa's Big Five is made up of animals - elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. The coin shows a lion, which is considered the king of all animals in Africa.
The coin was struck from pure Pt bullion.9995, with a weight of 1 troy ounce and a diameter of 32.69 mm, in standard proof.
This unique piece was produced by the renowned mint, The South Africa Mint, and is official legal tender in the country of the issuer. The entire series is guaranteed by the South African government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal.
The coin has a mintage of only 500 pieces. Individual pieces come in a representative package from which you can read additional information about both the coin and the animal itself.
Obverse shows a lion's head and the inscription "SOUTH AFRICA", "BIG FIVE 2022" and the South African coat of arms.
On the reverse side two halves of the lion's head are depicted. The reverse side bears the inscription "TWENTY RAND" and information about the weight and purity of the bullion. By arranging several coins in one position, it is possible to depict a whole herd of lions.
