The Free City of Danzig: 1 Shilling Silver 1808-M NGC MS62
Gdansk Shilling Coin Silver 1808-M NGC MS62
The Gdansk Shilling was minted after Gdansk was recognised as a free city by the Peace of Tilsit in 1807. The first coin of the Free City of Danzig minted at the mint managed by Jan Ludwig Meyer (visible on the coin is the letter M). Prints in silver were treated as minting attempts.
Excellent preserved details with plenty of mint luster and a noble patina appreciated by the NGC with one of the highest grading marks for this numismat. A specimen for the best coin collection of the Free City of Gdansk.
Rarity condition graded R5 in the Kopicki catalogue.
The obverse contains the coat of arms of the Free City of Danzig and the date "1808".
The reverse has the denomination "1 SHILLING". The coin was struck at the mint managed by Jan Ludwig Meyer, hence the presence of the letter M on the coin.
