The coin depicting the koala was struck from pure Au.9999 gold, weighing 1/10th of a troy ounce and measuring 16.6 mm in diameter. The 2023 Koala has the added advantage of a limited mintage of only 25,000 pieces.
The oldest Australian mint, The Perth Mint, is responsible for the production of the Australian Koala. In addition to its huge collector potential, the Koala is guaranteed by the Australian Government and is full legal tender in the issuing country.
The obverse of the gold coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, and information on the face value of the coin. The Rewers shows an image of an adult koala with a cub. The reverse features the weight, purity and year of production and the inscription 'KOALA', as well as the letter 'P', which indicates that the Perth Mint is the manufacturer of the coin. Ing Ing Jong is responsible for this year's reverse design.
