What's more, this gold piece is guaranteed by the Government of Canada as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country. Walter Otto is responsible for the design of the maple leaf, which has not changed over the years.
The obverse of thegold bullion coin shows the likeness of King Charles III, the denomination and the date of issue. Since 2014, additional security features include radial lines in the background of the coin.
The reverse of the coin depicts the maple leaf, which is the national symbol of Canada, as well as the grade in which the coin was struck (Au .9999) and the name of the country (Canada) in which it is produced. The coin's design was developed by Walter Otto.
