Kiwi 1 oz Silver 2023 Specimen
Collector's Kiwi 1 Ounce Silver 2023 Specimen numismatic coin is a unique coin from the limited Kiwi series issued since 2004. The 2023 product depicts the southern kiwi from the family "Apteryx australis." This species found m.in on Stewart Island, Fiordland. It is characterized by gray-brown plumage with longitudinal striped feathers.
The coin is minted from pure Ag silver.999, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 40 mm in diameter, in specimen form by BH Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt GmbH, commissioned by New Zealand Post.
What's more, Kiwi 2023 has a limited edition of only 5,000 pieces. Importantly, each piece comes in an exclusive case.
Obverse the coins are decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown. The obverse shows the date of issue, country of issue, weight and purity of the bullion. The designer of the obverse was Ian Rank-Broadley.
Reverse depicts kiwis on a beach among rocks. The reverse side also bears the inscription "TOKOEKA SOUTHERN BROWN KIWI APTERYX AUSTRALIS" and the face value of the currency. The designer of the reverse was Stephen Fuller.
