Banknote Ukraine 20 Hryven (20 UAH) Circulated
The Ukrainian 20 Hryvnia (20 UAH) Circulating Banknote is an essential component of Ukraine’s currency, widely used as a unit of payment. Issued by the National Bank of Ukraine, it combines aesthetic value with functionality, serving both as a means of payment and as an interesting collector’s item. The banknote, measuring 130 × 65 mm, reflects an appreciation for Ukrainian heritage and national identity.
On the obverse side of the banknote is a portrait of Ivan Franko (1856–1916), a prominent poet, writer, and intellectual whose work significantly influenced Ukrainian culture and national awareness.
On the reverse side of the banknote is an image of the Lviv Theatre, one of Ukraine’s important cultural centers, symbolizing the growth of art and national education, and serving as a source of national pride.

- Watermark featuring a portrait of Ivan Franko and a digital denomination “₴20,” visible when held up to the light.
- Security thread with microtext “₴20,” visible in light.
- Angle effect – the denomination “20” changes color depending on the angle of view.
- Optically variable ink – selected elements of the banknote change color from purple to green.
- Tactile elements, including the portrait of Franko, denomination, and markings for the visually impaired.
Differences between series:
- Series 2 includes classic security features and traditional color schemes.
- Series 3 introduces an enhanced angle effect and more pronounced microtexts, making the banknote harder to counterfeit.
- Series 4 offers additional optically variable ink and improved graphic elements, providing a higher level of security.
