Banknote Ukraine 500 Hryven (500 UAH) Circulated 100 pieces
In a set
The 500 hryvnia banknote commemorates Hryhorii Skovoroda, a distinguished Ukrainian philosopher, poet, and thinker. The banknote measures 154 x 75 mm and is designed to highlight Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
On the front of the banknote is a portrait of Hryhorii Skovoroda (1722–1794), a key figure in the Ukrainian Enlightenment. His works and ideas profoundly influenced Ukrainian national identity.
On the back of the banknote is an illustration of the Mohyla Academy building in Kyiv, one of the most important scientific centers in Eastern Europe, founded in the 17th century. Its architecture symbolizes Ukraine’s educational traditions and heritage.
To prevent counterfeiting, the 500 hryvnia banknote of series 3 and 4 includes various protective elements:
Watermark with an image of Skovoroda and the digital denomination "₴500," visible when held up to the light.
Security thread, embedded and visible in the light, with the microtext “₴500.”
Tilt effect – the denomination "500" changes color depending on the viewing angle.
Optically variable ink – selected graphic elements change color from green to purple.
Elements detectable by touch, including Skovoroda’s portrait, the denomination, and markings for the visually impaired.
Differences between series:
- In series 3, standard security features are applied, but the graphic details and colors are more subdued.
- In series 4, the tilt effect has been enhanced, and the intensity of optically variable ink has been increased, making counterfeiting more difficult.
