African Wildlife: Somali Elephant 1000 grams Silver 2023
The silver Somali Elephant coin is the next installment of a series created in 1999 called the Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first copies of the 1999 series were minted as coins guaranteed by the Zambian government. Copies minted after 2003 have another guarantor, which is the Somali government. In addition, the Somali Elephant silver and gold coin series is part of the African Wildlife collector program.
The 2023 silver piece was produced by German precious metal producer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt, with a weight of 1,000 grams, a diameter of 100.3 mm and a bullion sample of Ag.9999.
What's more, African Wildlife: Somali Elephant coins that were produced after 2004 play the role of full-fledged legal tender and carry the Somali government's guarantee of the legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal.
Obverse depicts the Somali coat of arms, two leopards supporting a shield with a star, along with information on the year of minting and the denomination of the coin.
Reverse shows the Somali elephant against the background of its natural environment. In addition, the reverse side bears the inscription "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT" and information about the weight and purity of the bullion.
