The Somali Elephant silver coin is the latest edition of the series that originated in 1999, known as the Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first coins of this series from 1999 were issued with a government guarantee from Zambia. However, coins minted after 2003 have a different guarantor, which is the government of Somalia. Additionally, the silver and gold Somali Elephant coins are part of the African Wildlife collector program.
The 2025 silver edition was produced by the German precious metals manufacturer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt, with a weight of 10 troy ounces, a diameter of 75 mm, and a silver fineness of Ag.9999.
Moreover, the African Wildlife: Somali Elephant coins produced after 2004 serve as legal tender and carry a guarantee from the government of Somalia regarding their authenticity, silver purity, and metal origin.
Obverse features the coat of arms of Somalia, with two leopards holding a shield with a star, along with the year of issue and the coin's face value.
