Wallal Centenary - Australia Tests Einstein's Theory 1 oz Silver 2022 Proof Domed Coin refers to the 1922 expedition in Wallal, Western Australia, which photographed a total solar eclipse. Astronomers from the Perth Observatory formed an expedition led by William Campbell of the Lick Observatory (USA) that was successful in taking images of the phenomenon, providing evidence supporting Einstein's theory.
The silver coin was minted at the Royal Australian Mint in Ag bullion grade.999, weighing 1 troy ounce and 39.62 mm in diameter, in standard proof. The product has a very interesting appearance, through the dome-shaped beating, which shows the depth of the design and incredibly enhances every detail. The coin is not only characterized by a stunning image of the reverse as well as the obverse, but is also distinguished by the fact that it was produced in a limited mintage of only 5,000 pieces. This unique product is packaged in its original, packaging with an accompanying certificate of authenticity.
Obverse depicts the image of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown, the inscription "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA" along with information on the year of minting and the face value. The designer of the obverse was Jody Clark.
Reverse the coin illustrates the location of Wallal in Australia and the Earth placed in so-called curved space-time and the inscription "WALLAL CENTENARY- AUSTRALIA TESTS EINSTEIN'S THEORY." The valence was designed by Adam Ball.
