Collector's numismatic New Zealand: Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy coloured 1 oz Silver 2023 Proof is a unique coin commemorating 40. anniversary of the Hairy Maclary of Donaldson's Dairy book series, written and illustrated by Dame Lynley Dodd.
The coin is minted from pure Ag silver.999, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 40 mm in diameter, in standard proof, commissioned by New Zealand Post. Moreover, the coin has a limited mintage of only 750 pieces. Importantly, each piece comes in an exclusive case.
Obverse the coins are decorated with the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown. The obverse shows the date of issue, country of issue, weight and purity of the bullion. The designer of the obverse was Ian Rank-Broadley.
Reverse depicts the colored dog Hairy Maclary. The reverse also bears the inscription "OUT OF THE GATE AND OFF FOR A WALK WENT HAIRY MACLARY FROM DONALDSON'S DAIRY", "LYNLEY DODD" and the face value of the currency.
