The coin is minted in pure Ag.999 silver, weighing 2 troy ounces and measuring 50 mm in diameter, to proof standard by BH Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt GmbH, commissioned by the New Zealand Post.
Furthermore, the 2024 valet has a limited edition of only 400 pieces. Importantly, each piece is supplied in an exclusive case.
The obverse of the coin is decorated with the likeness of King Charles III. The obverse features information on the date of issue, country of issue, weight and purity of the bullion. The obverse was designed by Stephen J. Fuller
Rewers feature an illustration of a Māui dolphin. The reverse also bears the inscription 'POPOTO MAUI DOLPHIN' and the face value of the coin. The reverse was designed by Dave Burke.
