NBP "Mikołaj Kopernik" 20 PLN 2023
The 20 zloty NBP "Nicolaus Copernicus" banknote is a collector's item offered by the National Bank of Poland. This unique product commemorates the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus, an eminent astronomer, creator of the heliocentric theory, physician and economist. He is the author of one version of the law governing the circulation of money - "Worse money always drives out better". The banknote measures 150 mm x 77 mm, has a face value of PLN 20 and a limited mintage of up to 100,000. Krystian Michalczuk is responsible for the design of the banknote. The Averse of the banknote features a portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus and stylised images of the quadrant and a fragment of the heliocentric system. The obverse bears the inscription "NARODOWY BANK POLSKI" as well as information on the banknote's nominal value. The Rewers of the banknote feature images of historical coins: the obverse and reverse of the Gdańsk sixpence, the obverse of the Elbląg sixpence, the obverse of the Prussian shekel, as well as an image of a fragment of the heliocentric system. The reverse bears the inscription "NARODOWY BANK POLSKI" and information on the face value of the coin. In addition to the collector's value, attention should be drawn to the security features used. The main security features implemented include: series and numbering visible in daylight and UV light, angular effect, microprint, optically variable ink, watermark, window thread or iridescent stripe.
