Lunar II: 3-Coin Year of the Dog Set ½ oz 1 oz 2 oz Silver Proof
The 2018 Year of the Dog is the eleventh instalment of the Lunar II series issued by Australia's Perth Mint. The featured set includes three coins weighing 2 ounces, 1 ounce and 1/2 ounce silver. These are coins with identical obverses and reverses, and the differences between them relate only to matters of weight, diameter and face value. The set comes in an elegant case and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. Furthermore, the number of minted sets was 1,000 pieces, meaning that the entire mintage was minted and sold. The images of all coins in the Lunar collection are modelled on the Chinese lunar calendar. In addition, these coins are an excellent way to invest in precious metals. Not only are the silver and gold commemorative coins and objects appealing to audiences around the world, they are also legal tender in Australia. The obverse of the coin is invariably decorated with an image of Queen Elizabeth II with the weight, year and country of issue. On the reverse is an illustration of a lunar animal.
