The silver Somali Elephant coin is the next instalment of a series created in 1999 called the Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first copies of the 1999 series were minted as coins guaranteed by the Zambian government. The copies minted after 2003 have a different guarantor, which is the Somali government. In addition, a series of silver and gold Somali Elephant coins are part of the African Wildlife collector programme.The 2011 silver piece was produced by the German precious metals producer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt, with a weight of one troy ounce and a bullion purity of Ag.9999 and a diameter of 38.60 mm.Furthermore, the African Wildlife: Somali Elephant coins that were produced after 2004 act as legal tender and are guaranteed by the Somali government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal. The Averse depicts the Somali coat of arms, two leopards supporting a shield with a star, along with information on the year of mintage and the denomination of the coin.
Rewers shows an adult and a baby elephant against a background of the African steppe. The reverse side features the inscription 'AFRICAN WILDLIFE', 'ELEPHANT' and information on the weight and purity of the bullion.Do you need help?
